The Christmas season had always been Rachel's favorite but it had also been one that had caused her a good bit of sadness as well. Christmas had always been Adelaide's favorite holiday. The house had always been filled with Christmas music, family, and the scent of freshly baked cookies. The house was fully decorated. There was no corner that didn't have a bit of Christmas cheer. It was literally like stepping into Santa's workshop. Rachel remembered all the traditions that they used to have and she remembered how they slowly died out. Now though, that was all going to change. Rachel was going to make sure that there was going to be tradition and good Christmas cheer once again. And she was going to make the rest of her family participated as well, no matter how much they moped whined and complained. She would use every trick in the bag to get them to participate. Rachel Marie Davreaux was not above using puppy dog eyes and the like at age twenty three.
Since she was on maternity leave, Rachel needed to find
activities that she could do around the house. Decorating seemed to be the only thing that she could do. She went absolutely crazy in the damn place. The house had never looked so clean before since her and Jean moved in. They didn't live like pigs but before now if there was something left out she would put it away. She would make sure that everything was cleaned because she had nothing else to do. Rachel wasn't used to not doing anything. She was a very active woman. She was the type of girl who didn't like to sit by and do nothing. She had to always be doing something. There was just no way that she was ever going to be able to sit still. Rachel was fairly certain that she wasn't born with the genetic whatever that told her how to do that. Another genetic barrier that she lacked? Knowing when to stop. The Christmas presents that were under her tree looked like they belonged in a New York store window. Each one had a matching ribbon, bow, and tag. They were arranged neatly so that all of them could be seen. Then there was the fact that every day she had baked some form of cookies. Today she had been on a roll and she had been daring and she decided that she wanted to try and make up her own recipe and that she was just going to listen to whatever she thought was going to taste good. That was her mistake right there. The cookies were all laid out cooling and her attention was diverted for the moment. She heard Jean walk in but she hadn't turned to face him as she was looking for a plate to but the good cookies on. "Hey I figured that we'd wait for Nate to show up before we ordered the food because I have no idea what he wants," Rachel said stretching trying to reach a plate. Rachel turned around to see Jean grab one of the 'craving' cookies. "No don't . . . " It was too late though as Jean already took a bite. He was acting like a child who was just forced to eat some vegetables that they didn't want. She just smiled at her husband and took out a glass and poured milk into it for him. "Here, and have one of these," She said handing him one of the normal chocolate chip cookies. She put the chocolate chip cookies on a plate and put them on the end of the counter and put the 'craving cookies' in a plastic container just in case. "You know you're gonna get hell for wearing that jersey right?" Rachel asked Jean looking at the jersey for the England soccer team that her husband was wearing. She herself had donned her team Italy jersey for the occasion of watching the two teams go against one another with the majority of the fantastic four. She had been missing her brother as of late and she really wanted to spend fun time with him again, especially after learning about Stephanie. The doorbell rang and she almost couldn't contain her excitement. "Get ready," Rachel said ominously. She smiled at him before going to get the door. "Hey," Rachel greeted giving her twin the best hug she could given her protruding stomach. "I haven't told him," Rachel said informing her brother that she really hadn't shared the information about part of the reason that he hadn't left was. "But anyway, how have you been. I saw you dancing with a pretty girl at the masquerade," Rachel said walking with him into the kitchen. "We were waiting for you to get here before we ordered food. Cookie?" Rachel asked holding up a chocolate chip cooking. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - LEAVEMYDOOROPENJUSTACRACK ((T A K E M E A W A Y F R O M H E R E))!!! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jean grew up with a family that was very much into decorating the house for Christmas. He was used to it always smelling like cinnamon apple pie and evergreen tree's. For him, it really set the jolly mood in the air...but tonight was something entirely different. Tonight was war time! Foot ball was on and like every true Brit..that meant it was time to get down to business. He had set up his outfit for the day..which were the proud colors of the manchester united team. Devils red and sweat yellow...the blood and sweat of the best team in Jean's opinion. They were so ruthless that he was sure he would put on the war striped across his cheeks, but thought it would be a little rediculous since there weren't going to be any other hard core fans in the house. Rachel and Nate were coming over for the game, but they were all for the Italians. For the mean time, Jean put in some work on his car in the garage. He was tired and couldn't wait to sit down with some well deserved delights while watching the game. As he crept in slowly through the door, he stood in the door way to take in the smell of freshly baked cookies. Looking around at the twinkle lights and mistletoe..holly draped over everywhere and the aroma of fresh poinsettas. Jean had married a woman that really knew how to bring out the christmas spirit in anything, and he wanted to dive right into it...starting with the cookies that were cooling on the table. First thing was first though...Jean took off his boots that were stained with motor oil and placed them on the mat where all the shoes were supposed to be. Rachel had taken on this whole nesting stage of her pregnancy...Jean read it only lasted about a month towards the end of the pregnancy...Jean was sure that it had already been several months that Rachel had been anally clean with everything. To not upset her or make her do extra work, he just followed her rules about the house.
Jean wasn't a saint though...countless times he had to take a walk because Rachel was driving him nuts. He couldn't find any of the scripts around the house and had to ask her numerous times where she had placed them. Jean felt like he couldn't have that organized mess he usually kept things in because she would have a fit. The cravings were probably the worst though, all hours of the night waking up to get her sweets. Lately Rachel was getting many false alarm contractions that had him speeding through the house to get the packed up suitcase and basically running around like a mad man. It was definitely a time to remember, especially since Jean would have the camera attached to his hand. Stretching out his arm over the table, he grabbed one of the cookies and popped it into his mouth. Now..when one places a cookie in ones mouth...you usually chew it as soon as you can to get the hit of flavor..this is exactly what happened. This time the flavor was something out of left field and Jean's face had a spasm. His eyebrow twitched and his shoulders came up into a shudder that made him cringe. Jean placed his hand on his mouth and his body tensed up as the cookie mush tried to slide down his throat, making him gag in response. Putting his hand up to Rachel before she could speak, he made a speedy movement towards the sink and hawked it all up into the sink..taking a towel from the rack and trying to scrub the taste off of his tongue. The whole time he sounded like a dog that was choking on water. "Oh god. Awful...rancid...vile-est cookies I've ever had. What on gods green earth did you put in those cookies Raine?" He took the glass of milk like it was the last glass of milk in the world.
After he downed his class and licked the milk mustache away from above his lip, he rubbed her stomach and shook his head. Jean couldn't understand how such a precious little baby could make a woman want such crazy things. The things Rachel craved and concocted for herself were really disgusting and not even a person on 420 higher than all hell could down one of those cookies. He felt like he just went through a fear factor mission and failed miserably. Jean looked at the cookie with skeptical eyes, but saw chocolate chips in them. Lowering his head, he placed his lips on the cookie while it was in her hand...taking it from her with a swift upward flick of his head. "Mm-thanks-Luff" He grinned with his lips closed tight as he chewed the cookie, giving her a small peck on the cheek. After swallowing he looked at her like she was crazy for making those cookies. "That was good..the other ones were just awful Raine...I mean what did you make them with...breast milk and chocolate covered pickled relish...with pickle juice. Revolting.." Jean shuddered to think that he almost swallowed the cookie at all. He hoped that Nate would want to take a bite out of one of those vile cookies...that way he could have a good laugh. Puffing out his chest he shrugged off her comment. "Manchester is going to crush those eye-ties into the dirt...just you see Misses." He gave her a cheeky grin and a wink before he went into the living room. "The place looks spetacular by the way darling." He complimented his wife on her kick ass decorating skills, especially the presents.
Taking a few chocolate chip cookies, he went over to his seat by the T.V and looked around the house contently. The present under the tree were gorgeous and it almost gave him ADD to have all these decorations around him. He wondered if he should invite Wendy over to watch the game. After all...she was a Manchester united fan and it could be two against two. Jean watched as Rachel wobbled over to the door and hugged her twin brother as best she could. Jean nodded towards him with a smirk and called out. "Yeah a real fox!....not as foxy as you though love...you beat her times infinity..Sorry Nate." It was true though, even pregnant Jean had to watch it with the guys hitting on Rachel. He thought it was just a tad perverted that they would hit on a pregnant woman, yeah he got the whole glow she had...but really. He listened as Rachel offered him cookies..those where his chocolate chip cookies..with a smirk her went over to the table and picked up the crave cookie container. "You should try these mate...they are really top notch." He said by making an A-OK sign with his hand, pressing his thumb and pointer together to make an O. What?! He was going for the Italian team and that automatically made him an enemy for the day...just like Rachel..except she has a get out of enemy jail free card because she just so happens to be the mother of his child..love of his life and wife.

HOLIDAYS HAD NEVER REALLY been nate's favorite time of year. he just wasn't a holiday person. too much forced family time always turned into a bad thing in nate's mind. even before his mother died he hadn't loved spending so much time with his whole family. it wasn't that he didn't love them but he had a limited attention span and there was only so much time he could spend with michael and michael's overbearing reputation before he was just done. and if previous years had sucked, this year was promising to be just a tad bit worse. because with holidays came his grandmothers. with his grandmothers came the queries about his marital status. rachel had gotten married before any of the evans men and they would pay for that this christmas. if he didn't like talking about his relationships with his grandmother's before, in light of stephanie's death and meeting izzy he was even less inclined to do so. all in all, he was definitely not looking forward to this particular holiday season.
TODAY, HOWEVER, HE WAS getting a reprieve from the overload of holiday preparation in his tiny town. today was game day. soccer was without a doubt nate's favorite sport and he never missed an italy game, even if it meant staying up until all hours of the night to tune in. but when italy played manchester united, as they were today, the world stopped in favor of the game. time was taken off from work, school was skipped, whatever was necessary for him and rachel and jean to focus on the game. it was a bitter rivalry between the three of them and jean was sorely outnumbered by the twins, both of whom supported italy unwaveringly. sure they weren't italian - not even close - but when your home land lacked any kind of soccer related talent [i'm talking to you russia and greece] then you had to choose what you supported. and of course, nate chose the very best. well - the best in his opinion anyway. you didn't get much better than italy.
AS USUAL HE WAS RUNNING late getting to his sister's house. although this time he actually had a decent excuse. since he knew that he was in walten to stay this time, he had to figure out what it was he wanted to do with his life. since medicine was out now - he'd been thinking a lot about what he actually wanted. his desire to have a prominent position in his father's business wasn't just to piss the old man off. he was interested in the business and felt that he had some good ideas to move the company forward. but if the michael evans' of the world didn't want to hear it, fine. he would do it on his own. so for the past couple days he had been meeting with some of his father's business contacts, trying to get a ground to start from and trying to get some backers to help fund his venture. he also had the money his mother had left him but that wouldn't exactly be enough. he'd been in a lunch meeting with several potential backers for most of the day, things had gone longer than he'd anticipated when the men showed great interest in his ideas. but since the meeting ran over, he found himself speeding home to change out of his suit and into his jeans and jersey before once again speeding off to rachel and jean's home, determined to get there before the game began.
AS SOON AS THE DOOR door opened, nate grinned and hugged his sister, glad to be getting to spend some time with her and jean. even if he was rooting for manchester. "hey rach," he said back, doing his best to wrap his arms around her and her overly large stomach. "jeez, you're getting huge," he said with a bit of a laugh as they separated. he nodded in acknowledgment as she brought up their conversation about stephanie but said nothing. he really didn't want to get back on that subject. as far as he was concerned, he'd be okay if she never mentioned that conversation ever again. he opening his mouth to answer her comment about izzy but paused to laugh at jean's interjection as he walked farther into the house. "what are you doing looking, huh davreaux." he joked. "i've been good. spending a lot of time with izzy, which is her name by the way. not fox." he went on with a smirk. he raised an eyebrow a moment later as they both offered him cookies, one each from different containers. he looked from their faces to the cookies and back again and then shook his head. "you're kidding, right?" he said, looking between them. "you," he began, pointing at rachel, "i don't trust in the kitchen. sorry but somehow you and culinary prowess just don't sync in my head. and you," he shifted his attention to jean, "are not to be trusted today. not after last time. it took me a freaking week to get the dye off my teeth after you slipped it in my coffee."
yeah, they weren't exactly friends to one another when their teams were on the field together but who could blame them? If one ever questioned the maturity level of Jean Davreaux, they needed to do nothing but look at the show that he was putting on at this moment. It was comical and childlike, but it was still Jean at the same time. She had tried to warn him but she had been too late unfortunately for him. She tried not to laugh, but Rachel couldn't help it. It was priceless and for once she wished that she had a camera on her so that she could tape it. It was the first time that she had actually understood Jean's great affection for his video camera and the want to keep it on him at all times. Just because she understood now, that didn't mean that she was going to be any less snippy when she felt like she was under a microscope because he was hell bent on getting every little detail recorded on tape so that they could cherish it forever. Rachel wasn't that sentimental. She had her moments but for the most part, she didn't think that she was going to need a play by play of the past nine months. She quite honestly just wanted it all to be over. She felt like she had been pregnant for forever and these false contractions had been nothing but cruel teases. She wished that she could go into labor so that she could give birth and not have to worry about when it was going to happen. That was all that she was asking for. Better yet, she would like it to happen as close to Christmas as possible. The last thing that she wanted was to be coddled over during a million holiday dinners and if it happened close enough to Christmas she could have a nice quiet Christmas with her husband, her baby, and a small select number of people, like her twin and his Izzy. Her family would want to desperately see the little baby, but they wouldn't dare risk the health of the little bundle of joy. Was it bad that Rachel was already contemplating the ways that she could use this to get away from her family, possibly. However, only those who had experienced an Asimov-Evans holiday could understand the thought process behind it.
Rachel didn't exactly write down the recipe to the hall of shame
cookies. She had been going off of what sounded good at the time being. That was never a good plan of action but it was what she wanted. She couldn't help herself when it came to her cravings and she had always felt bad about asking Jean for things from the kitchen or even worse the store whenever they were out of it. The doctors said that cravings were her body's way of telling her what she needed and that they really shouldn't be ignored. She remembered putting basil in the batter at one point and oranges but she couldn't remember what else was in there. "Awe, they can't be that bad, can they?" Rachel asked her husband innocently. She took a bite out of one and shrugged her shoulders. Not the worst thing that she had ever tasted but her doctor said that her taste buds would also be off for a little bit while she was pregnant. So what did she know. She was just the crazy pregnant woman. "But to answer your question, I honestly don't remember everything. There was definitely some basil and oranges but I'm not sure what else went in after that." Rachel acted as if it were no big deal and it kind of wasn't since this had been happening for a while now. It had become normal to her now. In fact to just to see Jean's face contort like it did, Rachel just might try and re-invent the cookies and slip them in with the others. No that would just be mean. Jean deserved a break just as much as she did after this whole being pregnant thing was over. "Yeah sure lubovnik, whatever you say. You keep on thinking that Manchester actually stands a chance against the best team in the world," Rachel called back before she greeted her brother who of course had to get a jab in about weight as well. "Hey! I'd love to see you when you're nine months pregnant. Then we'll see who's coming up with all the fat jokes. I thought that we were on the same team here tonight," shot back. Even if this was something that the two of them always did, it didn't matter. Normally their words were never meant to hurt one another. The banter was just something that came with the relationship, especially when it was game day, even if they were on the same team. "Thanks, Jean," Rachel said giving him a quick kiss as she walked to the kitchen to offer Nate a cookie which he insultingly refused. She fully understood Nate not trusting Jean. The three of them were rather brutal when it came to their soccer teams, but her? When had she ever led him down the wrong path when it came to food. "Nate they're fine," Rachel said taking a cookie out of the container that Jean was holding and eating it like it was no big deal. "See? Nothing wrong with them you big baby." She said going to the phone and picking up the take out menu. She dialed the number to their favorite pizza place and began to place the order. "Yes, I'd like to place an order for delivery. I'd like one medium cheese pizza with cheese stuffed crust, one meat lovers, and one pizza with pineapple, green peppers, and onions. Oh and an order of hot wings. Am I missing anything?" Rachel asked her boys before finishing up the order. She took a seat at the island counter and kept up with the conversation as they waited for their food to arrive. The pizza was there soon enough and Rachel was starving. She asked Jean to get the door and she got out plates for them to use. The TV was already set to the right channel for the game and she would have been bouncing with excitement at the moment if her ankles weren't so swollen. "This was an excellent idea," Rachel said putting cheese pizza and the pineapple and friends pizza on her plate before adding a few wings as well. "Sorry, babe, but you're not allowed to sit in your chair tonight," Raine informed Jean as she hooked his arm and walked with him into the living room. "Because you see, There simply isn't enough room for all three of us on your chair, and we all know how you refuse to eat when the sitting arrangements get messed with so that means you will have to give up on the old girl for tonight," She explained taking a seat on the couch and laying her legs across his lap like always. "Ooh look just in time to watch the demise of your Manchester lot love," Rachel said before taking a bite of her pizza.[/blockquote][/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - status done tagged Mr. Fantastic and Nate the Great outfit coming soonish notes ok so i know like nothing about soccer you two take the trio through the game. so harlee post then demi post and then surprise? sound good to everyone? banners done by me lyrics "we've got it made" by theory of a deadman template mine
