-- 2006, SUMMER --
13 august 2006 was a dark day indeed for the quileute wolves. as edward cullen and bella swan walked
down the aisle, they knew that her fate was sealed - soon she would become a vampire, the very thing
from which they had sought to protect her. the girl's mind was made up. treaty or no treaty, they knew
that eventually, she would find a way to be turned. little did they know, that would be sooner than any-
one, even bella, expected. though the cullens had been unable to catch him years before, when he sunk
his teeth into bella swan the first time, james had returned to forks at long last, keen on finishing what
he had started. it was all too easy to slip into the new mr. and mrs. cullen's crowded wedding reception,
weaving through the other guests, an eye always on his prize. soon enough, james found an opening and
seized the chance, springing on bella the moment she was alone. of course, it wasn't long before edward
grew concerned and came looking for his new bride and ran off her attacker, losing him somewhere in
the woods. he rushed back to bella's side, but by then it was too late - the only way to save her life was
to let her turn. but then again, it was what she had always wanted, wasn't it? now they could finally be
together forever, and she had the entire cullen family to aid her in her turning; what could go wrong?
-- 2006, AUTUMN --
as fate would have it, becoming a vampire was much more difficult than bella ever expected. the pain
was unbearable, and the moment it ceased she found herself overwhelmed by her thirst for blood. the
cullens maintained a careful watch on their newly-turned charge, but remaining in forks with a new-
born vampire on their hands was a bad idea - and, as could be expected, the quileute wolves were the
first ones to see it. from the day that bella's transformation began, the wolves had been ever-vigilant,
patrolling the border of the cullens' territory in constant anticipation of the day that bella would no
longer be able to resist her newfound bloodlust. then it happened - the moment the cullens were lax
enough to allow bella and edward to hunt together unsupervised, a passing hiker nearly lost his life.
word quickly made its way back to the wolves, who were so concerned by this troubling development
that sam uley himself went to issue the cullens a warning, reminding them of the precarious terms on
which bella's turning had been permitted in the first place - only to find they had vanished, the house
empty but for the stench they left behind. with any luck, the quileute's vampire troubles were over.
-- 2028, WINTER --
though it had been over twenty years since the cullens had fled to alaska, the wolves had never been so
foolish as to forget the possibility that one day, they might return. the silent guardians remained ever-
vigilant, awaiting the day that their worst nightmares would yet again be realized - for if the cullens
returned, which of their children would become burdened with the task that had once been their own?
sure enough, one unassuming day in january, the cullen family once again showed their faces in town.
it was only a matter of time before history began repeating itself. sure enough, just a few short months
after the cullens' resumed their residency in forks, sam and emily uley's eldest son became the first to
phase in a new generation of quileute wolves. one by one more of the tribe's young adults continued to
phase and become a crucial part of la push's best-kept secret. though an uneasy truce was in effect, the
elder generation was careful to enlighten their children to the blistering truth: there is no peace as
long as the cullens are in town. they insist upon their innocence, but a vampire is never to be trusted.
-- 2030, SPRING --
sure enough, the tentative peace between wolf and vampire was not meant to last. la push was sent into
a panic one day when a car often driven by one of its teenagers was found totaled at the hands of a fallen
tree, the upholstery stained with blood - but there was no body to be found, no evidence to suggest where
a scared and gravely injured girl might have gone in her time of need. immediately, the wolves began to
suspect foul play - and as if their very worst fears were being realized, a few weeks later, the poor girl's
whereabouts were discovered. she had become a vampire, and at the hands of rosalie hale, who had come
across the wreckage and taken pity on the dying girl, turning her just moments before her life ran out.
the treaty has been broken, sending the quileute wolves into an uproar. somehow, some way, the cullens
will pay for taking one of la push's own and turning her into a monster. but that's not the only thing the
wolves have to worry about - the girl's older sister has begun asking questions, teaming up with a seattle
reporter who has her own interest in uncovering the dark secrets that lurk in the woods of the two quiet
towns. with tensions mounting ever-higher, the future is anything but certain. will the wolves and the
cullens come to an agreement before both sides resort to violence? what will become of the girl rosalie
has turned? will quileute and cullens alike be exposed for what they really are? only time will tell, but
whichever side you choose, you'd better hope that MAYBE GOD CAN BE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE GUN. --
