Dimitri Mikhalovitch Varkov
* tell us a little about yourself.Um hi, I'm Dimitri Varkov. Don't ever call me by my patronymic name. I hate it. You think I'm joking but I'm not. I'm 20 right now born on the 18th of January. People kinda say I look like Gaspard Ulleil but I don't even know who that is! I was born in a kinda small town in Russia called St. Petersburg, perhaps you've heard of it? My dad worked for a family of very wealthy Russians and as most stories go I had to work for them too the bastards. There was one bright ray of sunshine though, their youngest daughter. She and I would get into loads of trouble. When I was ten, however, a radicalist and his followers pretty much slammed right into their car when they were turning into the rather long driveway and killed the family and themselves. I was helping the gardener at the time and he and I rushed over there to help. All of them were dead except the youngest, who I pulled out of the car. She didn't remember what happened or who she or any of us were. She was put into an orphange and that was the last I saw of her. My dad, though devastated, saved up his money and we moved to this hell hole. Now I take a couple of classes at the local college and work some small jobs here and there. Where I get most of my money is either conning unsuspecting tourists with stolen or cheap goods or dealing under the table, take your pick!
* what are some of your positive traits?Well I don't mean to brag, wait would I put that down under improve upon? Uh, well anyways, I'm pretty smart. I mean sometimes I don't try, and it's true, but when I really put my mind to it I can really go places. I am rather funny myself. That's mainly how I get the girls, conning anyway. I don't really like taking people's money but it's a dog-eat-dog world out there. I'm also kinda a jack of all trades. I mean I know how to dance (not very well mind you but still, it's something). I know how to be formal. When you work for the rich people, you need to know how to speak with a eloquent tounge. I'm pretty honest and sometimes that turns people off. I don't really believe in a soft life, I mean look at me! I'm practically working my ass off just to stay off the streets! I believe in hard work and dedication, another thing my dad always said. I'm also headstrong and I don't like to back down from something, I guess some might consider that a bad thing but once I've got it on my mind I won't stop until it's completed. I'm very loyal as well, I don't like seeing my friends or loved ones hurt and I would never forgive myself if it was me that was doing the hurting.
* what are some things that you can improve on?Hm, now this is more difficult. I guess you could say I'm childish? I don't really know that's what someone else told me. I've also been told how stubborn I am. I know what I want and I know I will never rest until I see it through to the end. Now this next thing is kinda embaressing, I know all guys boast on how well they can predict or read the opposite sex but I've never been good at that. In fact, I'm kinda akward with girls and oh I don't know....this is kinda hard to talk about. When someone helps me, escpecially a girl, I hate that. I don't like being the one saved instead of me doing the saving. I don't like feeling unprotected and out in the open like that. Do you get what I'm saying? I'm also pretty bitter about where I came from. St. Petersburg is the bane of my existence. I never want to see that blasted place again. I can't tell you how much that place has left it's mark on me. It's like people know where and how I grew up and discriminate me because of it.
* what's your biggest secret? we won't tell.*sigh* Secret? Well, you won't tell anyone, no of course you won't. Okay, this is kinda hard. You know that girl I was talking about, the one I saved from the wreck? Well I've always really liked her and she doesn't even know who I am now that she had amnesia. She doesn't even remember me but, God I think about her all the time and wonder if she's still okay.
* what does your heart want?Well girls obviously! I'm a little ignorant when it comes to girls. I mean I know how to talk to them, that's how I make my money, but I don't really know how to get close to them. If I ever did get close to a girl I would want her to be funny and laugh at my jokes as well as make me laugh. I want someone that I can talk to one on one and really understand what I mean and where I come from when I say it. I don't want someone so up tight that if you put a piece of coal up their butt you get a diamond. I also don't want someone snooty around my friends, someone clingy, and for sure not a absolute bitch.
* what do you do in your spare time?I really like to learn about history. I've always been good at remembering interesting things and facts and whatnot. I don't know I just love reading about how people lived and what their family was like and how they grew up. Sure some people think it's kinda lame but I don't care, these people in the past are like my friends. I do like to work out occasionly. You know, gotta keep up appearances. I'm not that built but I can hold my own against someone my size. Not for very long, however, but it's something! Oh, I also con in case you didn't already know that.
* so what does your family life look like?Well I guess I haven't told you this part yet huh? Right now I'm an orphan. My dad died when I was 15 and only left me his name in the process. I've been pretty much living on the streets since he died. That's how I got into my conning business. I would steal things from tourists and turn right around and sell it to the people in line behind them. I pretty much supported myself through highschool (the days that I actually went to) and up until now.
* what are the memorable moments in your life?*sigh* Where do I begin? Well the first thing that pops into my mind is the day when the car crash happened. I can still head the metal on metal from the van of the radicals crashing into the big SUV with the rich family inside. Seeing the smoke and the heavy cloud of blood. They obviously had a closed coffin funeral becasue of the mangled bodies. But rescuing the daughter? You just don't forget the glassyness in those poor girls eyes.
The next would have to be is when we moved to Walten City. I really hated my dad for making us leave but I was also grateful. I didn't realise it then, but Walten City was the best thing that ever happened to me, even if it is a city full of dirty tourists. If we had stayed in Russia there was no way we could had made a life for ourselves there. The people there are pretty much husks of humans, they just go through life without even living. Here we could start over, sure I'm pretty much living off ignorant people but better than Russia.
The last thing I can really think of was the day after my father died. We barely had enough money when he was alive but the day after I was on my own for the first time was a very dark day indeed. I hope I never have to relive something like that ever again. The hopelessness that I felt...sorry this is really hard to talk about. Are we done here?
* so we've heard that you're a lot like Dimitri
name: Dimitri is the character's name. They never said his patronymic name so I made one up. Varkov means stirring or cooking which was what his father did and what he did as well.
play by: Gaspard has the same facial structure as well as the close cropped dark brown hair. Gaspard also has the same build of Dimitri, lean and slim. Gaspard however, has lighter eyes than Dimitri but other than that they are pretty close.
positive traits: Even though he sometimes didn't act like it, Dimitri was smart. He as also a sarcastic, funny dude. He was a jack of all trades, teaching Anya about her past, how to be formal and act accordingly and somewhat teaching her how to dance. Dimitri was rather honest at most time and he was very dedicated, living basicly off the streets and conning people was his job. He was very headstrong was the one to save Anya, him, and Vlad on the train. He was also very loyal to Anya and Vlad.
negative traits: Dimitri was childish. He acted almost exactly like Anya. He was also stubborn and didn't like to back down from anything except when it came to Anya. He did seem rather akward at times with Anya, like he didn't really know how to act or like he had never really been around girls at all in his life. He didn't really enjoy it when Anya saved him on the train and he would rather be the one saving, not the one being saved.
orientation: He went for Anya didn't he?
turn ons: Anya was basicly exactly like himself, sarcastic, funny, headstrong, a bit childish at times and very loyal.
turn offs: Pretty much everything that Anya wasn't is his turn offs, rude, self-centered, clingy, things like that.
spare time: Well obviously conning would be one of them. I also put how he likes to read about history because of how well he knew Anya's life and how he taught it to her like it was his own life. I also said working out because there was no way Dimitri could do the stuff in the movie like on the train of helping Anya defeat (well he sorta helped) Rasputin. However he can be rather weak sometimes when it comes to girls like when Anya shook his hand for the first time when they met in the palace.
family life: We never knew about his family but when Anya was talking to him on the train about leaving Russia he had not regrets and seemed rather bitter about it.
memorable moments: Well saving Anya would be one. I also got the feeling how free Dimitri felt on the train leaving Russia so when he made it to Walten City it felt like he was starting a new life. Now I think that when the palace was invaded by the soldiers in the movie Dimitri was on his own which was like how I did it for this character. When his dad died he was fending for himself for the first time with no one else to help him.this application was written by Kat, who also plays no one.
