VanBuren Academy is not a place for the rich or spoiled, though many attending fit into those categories. No, this academy is for the elite in academics - grades 9-12.
Those with flawless marks and exceptional school records are given scholarships and special entry if they can't pay for themselves, yet surely they'd raise the grades of the school. This Academy almost ensures you that you will be accepted into the most prestigious of Ivy League colleges immediately after graduation. It's a difficult school to be accepted into, and an easy school to be kicked out of.
You'll be expected to outwardly and publicly act like a model citizen; a robot to society with a higher-that-the-norm IQ, perfect, looked up to. An idol to other scholars. However, in the school, it's a different story. Students deprive themselves of sleep and take drugs to help them stay awake to study and cram for exams. Others take their academics to a new level of serious, breaking themselves down with the simplest of slip ups or becoming raging and violent when their intelligence is compromised or insulted. Some are arrogant, god-complexed people with a social problem, believing that their status puts them above everyone in society, and perhaps even above society's rules and law. Some are just the same as everyone else in every other school...which means they struggle to fit in with the elitists and academic-obsessed kids. The teachers are even in on it, helping the kids get the proper drugs from their doctors, providing them themselves, or simply pushing students too far by various means. Most of the teachers are only doing this to keep VanBuren at the top of the schools and get paid top dollar - some are doing it because they see how much it means to the kids to do so well - some, for personal reasons - while others don't participate in the practice at all.
With all the students fighting viciously for the top of the class spots and most teachers only encouraging the action, this suit-and-tie, oh-so proper prep school on the outside is a mediocre frenzy on the inside.
Where do you fit in?
