Frozen Tears
Scroll One : First Signs of Light
The city of Everlit started like any other. Based on the beautiful shores of The Unnamed Ocean, it prospered greatly on the bounty of their land. The worshiped a single god, Soal. Legends told of his vanity and wrath. He demanded worship, unbreakable oaths, and blood sacrifices to mixed with his own, the waters of the ocean. Everlit was a community that believed in helping one another. It was peaceful, with no war's in its history. They had lives as a solitary nation for thousands of years. But before long, resources had begun to fade, and the mouths of Everlit were going hungry. A young warrior soon found the culprits to be another tribe that had begun to abuse the earth, taking and giving nothing back. Soal was angry, but instead of giving the other race a fighting chance along with his own people, he changed them in ways no other world has ever seen.
They changed, legs fusing to become sleek and colorful tails, their bodies taking on all the colors of the ocean fish around them. The people of the Light soon found themselves in the depths of the ocean, surrounded by nothing but open space. They pleaded for Soal's help, and eventually, he blessed them with even more abilities. With their new gifts, Everlit became a light in the darkness of the ocean. Since their first move into the ocean, Everlit has become a strong and even larger city. Gifted in many ways. But with time, all good things must come to a shattering end...Scroll Two : Unshed Tears
Everlit is ruled by two powers, a King, and his sister, a priestess. Our current King's father was a proud and vengeful man. Twisted in many ways, and rather cruel in his punishments. In this strange sick twist of our history, produced his heirs with his sister, the Priestess. Into her third pregnancy, she became incredibly ill, and many stories circled of her loss in sanity. She was heavily along, when we heard she was on her death bed. The most common stories say that she called her young daughter to her bedside, and instructed her quickly in the ways of a priestess. Her young daughter was very gifted, and picked up every word her mother spoke. As she blessed her with her last bit of strength, she fell back against the bed to her death.
Enraged by her death, The King, her brother and lover, turned onto his young daughter. Blinded by his arrogant rage, he banished her from Everlit, and with her, our strongest magic source. She left the city, and many of us believe her to be dead, or a witch on the outskirts of the city. In time, the King passed, and his son came to the throne alone, without a sister to help him and guide the magic of Everlit. He took up studies on the ways of a Priestess, and has become rather skilled in magic. With hope, he can continue by shedding such power onto a daughter who can learn much further on her own. The loss of a priestess is a grave danger to our entire city....Scroll Three : Ghost Voices
Currently, the ghosts known to wonder our halls have become restless and much more open. At first, they would hide away, and appear only on certain occasions. But we have noticed them following us, and watching us. Why? We do not know. Their behavior has gone from mild wondering, to focused, and to an occasionally hostile form. We knew they hated us, as past blood sacrifices to Soal, its with understanding that they haunt our beautiful City. Rumors say that someone has begun to practice the Dark Magic of Necromancy. It is forbidden within the walls of Everlit, for its malice and cruel intended use. No good can come from such abilities.
The only true mer who could manipulate such a strong control, would be the young banished priestess of the past. We could not see her being so cruel though, and against her own people? Rumors are always a constant pest though. They say she is building a Rebel Alignment, ready to pull Everlit from its pure Light, and turn it into something wicked. Many of us highly doubt this though, one of our own could never be so cruel. Right...?
