Wars have plagued the city of Hemopolis since its existence. Political power is held in several clans of varying species: demons, lycanthropes, faeries, elementals, elves and humans, which fight for resources, territory, power and the right to live. Prejudice and abhorrence between the groups is rampant. Civilized diplomacy dissolved, the clans result to savage acts to secure the survival of their respective species. The hostile streets of Hemopolis offer wealth and power to those who are willing to pay the price. Gold is bartered for innocent blood and authority gained through sedition.
Each clan has their own government, each corrupt in a different way. Whether under the oppression of a brutal monarchy or living in a slave-dependent economy, each citizen of the city either benefits or suffers from the ruthless regime.
There is one underground group built of members from every clan who seek the end of the chaos and tyranny. This secret society, The Creature Alliance, believes that all species are created equal and they plot to bring political reform to restore rights to all. The CA offers protection for runaway slaves and political prisoners of the clans. Being a member of this illegal organization is treason in every clan; a crime punishable by death
