Wanderer is turning into something she never was. She is frightened. Lost.

Melanie Stryder is trying to piece together the jigsaw puzzle that is her relationship with Jared. She was wrongly under the impression that regaining control of her own body would make things simpler; but her life has become a roller coaster and jared begins to question the future of their relationship.
When there is a new Soul addition to the caves, Jared becomes tense. Is he falling hard for a girl he's never met. Can Melanie and Jared manage to go back to how things were before?

Meanwhile, the large quantities of Rebels in the desert accompanied by numerous Soul disappearances are drawing some unwanted attention from the Seekers.
